Photography is more than a hobby to me, it’s a passion
I'm a photographer based in Hanover, PA who specializes in portrait and fashion photography; I also have a mild vintage camera obsession.
I grew up in Sykesville, Maryland: a small town whos claim to fame is being named the “coolest small town in America” and being the backdrop for the 1990 cult classic “Crybaby” starring Johnny Depp. And of course, me . After graduating high school, I spent the next 20 years in Navy traveling the world, building a family and pursuing what would become my passion.
What began as a curiosity became a hobby. While stationed in various locations, I would occupy my free time by photographing everything. Buildings, sunsets, rivers, bugs, whatever. The whole world was my subject. What began as a hobby grew into an obsession. Spending hours on YouTube teaching myself the fundamentals, I would go down endless “rabbit holes” learning every technical aspect of photography. ISO, aperture, shutter speed, rule of thirds, leading lines, long exposure, etc. It was and continues to be a hunger.
When I retired from the Navy and returned to Maryland, I quickly realized that although it’s my home, Maryland lacks in interesting landscapes (which had my become my niche). So I changed course (navy pun) to portrait and fashion photography.
It brought with it a couple of new challenges, working with people and working with lighting. I’ve loved these challenges.
Every shoot is an opportunity to express and capture emotion. To share experiences, ideas, and perspectives.
